Hi everyone!
I'm a student journalist of Imperial College London, where I currently read undergraduate physics. In my spare time, I enjoy writing about things that happen around London as I study here.
I'm originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, so it's my first time living in London. It's a fantastic place in terms of events and there's always something going on here. I've only started writing and blogging recently, but have already covered things from interviews with Game of Thrones actors to international a cappella competitions.
As well as writing, I also develop software, specifically mobile applications and websites. My vision for the future of journalism is ways to incorporate a lot more multimedia we simply can't find in traditional newspapers. This is the reason I set up a blog to mirror all the articles I've written in print - I have the liberty to supplement and enrich the writing with sound, video, pictures, and other unique things like photospheres which are impossible to print.
I took up photography when I started writing to help enhance the journalistic dissemination process. Pictures and videos really do speak volumes when used properly and can convey feelings (and the true situation, more importantly) in ways that is extremely difficult in words alone. I edit all my videos myself - a skill I retain from creating short films throughout high school.
Finally - onto Japan! Japanese is my sixth language I'm studying, and by far the most difficult! Simply put, I find it amazing that Japan has evolved so differently to the rest of the world, because of its geographical isolation and other factors, but is still populated by the same people as we are. Experiencing this amazing culture has recently become one of my dreams - and hopefully I will be able to realise it this summer!
Welcome any messages/enquiries about travelling around Europe, physics, London, Scotland - anything.
