The Tetsujin 28 Statue in Kobe is an amazing public sculpture and monument symbolizing the rebirth of the city of Kobe after the Hanshin Earthquake in 1995. Finished in 2009, this statue is located in Wakamatsu Park close to Shin-Nagata station on the JR Kobe Line. Standing at an impressive 18 meters high, the statue is one of many life sized giant robot works across Japan, including the Gundam in Odaiba, Tokyo. The Tetsujin robot was originally created in the 1960's by Mitsuteru Yokoyama, a manga artist born in Kobe.
