Coffee lovers visiting Tohoku have something special to look forward to this spring: the return of the Iwate Coffee Festival, which has now expanded into a multi-day celebration. The event is set to fill the Morioka History and Culture Museum Square and nearby Iwate Park with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, drawing roasters, food vendors, and coffee enthusiasts from across Japan.

This year’s event will host 31 acclaimed roasters from around the country, along with 75 food trucks and market vendors offering local bites, handmade goods, and more. For the first time, the festival includes a special “eve” event on Friday, May 16th, allowing early access to the festivities for those who can’t attend over the weekend—or simply want to stretch the experience over all three days.

Admission is free, but coffee tastings require a ticket. Several ticket options are available, including limited-edition collector’s sets and demi-cup tasting passes, which can be purchased in advance through Lawson Ticket and other local outlets. Tasting tickets include original souvenirs like drip bags, cups, and keychains, while refill tickets will be sold on-site for returning visitors.
