Pokémon has captivated fans worldwide through video games, trading cards, an animated series, movies, and merchandise. The appeal of all things Pokémon transcends age and attracts children and adults alike, which is a big part of the franchise's enduring popularity.

For Pokémon fans in Japan, the Pokémon World Championships 2023 will be held in Yokohama, marking the first time that the event is being held in Asia. In addition to the World Tournament running from August 11 until August 13, there are a variety of additional activities scheduled around the Minatomirai area. Read on to discover more about what's happening, and where!

Please note that the lottery period for events requiring pre-registration has ended.

In addition, viewing some events may be limited depending on crowd numbers. Please be sure to check the official website for up-to-date information before your visit.

Pokémon Summer Festival Park

Rinko Park

August 11 (Fri) - August 14 (Mon) 9am–7pm

A Pokémon styled summer festival is set to take place at Rinko Park, with all the fun you'd expect at such an event. There will be traditional bon dancing, Magikarp Fishing and Poké Ball Throw, and taiko drum performances. Pre-registration is required for this event.

We Move!!(Pokémon Fantastic Live Show)

Shioiri-no-Ike Pond (within Rinko Park), Yokohama

August 8 (Tues) - August 14 (Mon) 8:30pm–8:55pm

We Move!! is an after-dark celebration containing numerous lights and plenty of Pikachus. A pre-registration lottery is required to attend this event.

Imagination! Into the Next!! (Pokémon Fantastic Live Show)

Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse

August 8 (Tue) - August 14 (Mon) *Two shows per day 1st showing: 7:15pm–7:30pm; 2nd showing: 8:30pm–8:45pm

Pikachu, Lucario, Greninja, and other Pokémon are coming to liven up Yokohama's historic Red Brick Warehouse with an evening stage show including lights, water effects, and projection mapping. Pre-registration is required to attend this event.

Pikachu Gathering!!(Pokémon Fantastic Live Show)

Grand Mall Park

August 8 (Tue) - August 14 (Mon) *Two shows per day. August 8 (Tue) - August 13 (Sun) 1st showing: 3pm–3:15pm; 2nd showing: 4:45pm–5pm August 14 (Mon) 1st showing: 1pm–1:15pm; 2nd showing: 3pm–3:15pm

A plethora of marching Pikachus are set to parade throughout Grand Mall Park, and this event can be freely viewed by anyone.

Let’s Celebrate! The Pokémon Parade!!(Pokémon Fantastic Live Show)

Keyakidori Avenue

August 14 (Mon) 4pm–4:40pm

Held on the last day of the Pokémon Worlds celebration in Yokohama, a dance parade will include the likes of Pikachu, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly – but visitors may also be able to spot some rare Pokémon! Admission via a lottery system is required to attend this event.

Pokémon Trainer Cruise

Nippon Maru

August 11 (Fri) - 12 (Sat) 9am–8pm August 13 (Sun) 9am–12pm

The Nippon Maru is a Japanese museum ship and former training vessel which is permanently docked in Yokohama Harbor, and it will serve as the venue for a Pokémon Trainer Cruise. Although there will be no actual sailing during the event, the ship makes for a unique spot for some casual Pokémon battles (bring your Nintendo Switch!) or trading.

Pokégenic allows visitors the chance to find Pokémon all throughout Yokohama – in street art form, that is! Fun art installations can be found at the locations below, so keep your eyes peeled!

Getting there

The Minatomirai area of Yokohama can be conveniently accessed via several train lines, including JR Sakuragicho Station, Minatomirai Station, and Bashamichi Station.
