Tokyo Disneyland, one of the two theme parks in Tokyo Disney Resort, has been loved by visitors since it’s opening back in April 1983. So loved, in fact, that it was the world’s third most-visited theme park in the world in 2018, welcoming approximately 17.9 million visitors. While this means the theme park can get crowded, it was specifically designed with large open areas to accommodate the large crowds.
Closure extended until early April 2020 due to the coronavirus situation.
The park has seven different themed areas: Adventureland, Westernland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, World Bazaar, Critter Country, and Mickey’s Toontown, with different rides and attractions in each. Many of the attractions are the same or similar to those at Disneyland Park in Los Angeles and Magic Kingdom park in Orlando, including the iconic Cinderella Tower.
Many of the attractions and rides have the option to “Fastpass”, which allows you to scan your ticket, and get an estimated time at which you should come back so you can visit other attractions instead of waiting in line. Once your estimated time comes, wait in a short (about 5 minutes) long line before enjoying the ride. The “Fastpass” option is free to use.
There are a total of 47 restaurants spread throughout the seven themed areas, offering a wide range of cuisines. Food is not included in the cost of admission, so make sure to bring extra money to pay for food and drinks.
Tickets are sold as 1, 2, 3, or 4-day packages. There are also discount tickets available for arriving after 15:00 (3pm) on weekends and holidays or after 18:00 (6pm) on weekdays. Discounts are also available for juniors (ages 12-17), children (ages 4-11), and seniors (ages 65+). See the website for more details on the prices of the discount tickets.
