Ryusen-En Garden, Mishima

A small but beautifully landscaped traditional garden

The garden is laid out around a peaceful pond

There's a small bamboo grove at the rear of the garden

There's a small but well tended lawn

The pond is home to slowly swimming carp

There are plum and cherry-blossom trees at the edge of the lawn

Flowers in bloom add to the calming atmosphere

Stepping stones guide you along some of the paths

Next to the Sano Art Museum about a mile south of Mishima Station, Ryusen-En is a small but beautiful Japanese garden, laid out in traditional style around a tranquil carp pond. With its plum and cherry-blossom trees and a small wooded area, it's a very pleasant, relaxing place to stroll around slowly, and there are also a handful of striking sculptures and statues nestled among the greenery.
